Tour Day 6: Now It's Time to Say Goodbye

A much-too early wake up call got us up at 5:45 am – I didn’t stay on the line to hear Mickey say “up & at ‘em” - too sad. We were ready for our luggage pickup at the specified time – got everything taken down to the front entrance. We had a bit more space due to shipping a box of stuff home, but it was still a challenge to get everything squared away. Diana stayed with our luggage (and probably dozed a bit) while we went to find something to grab for breakfast.

Ray & Lucille were in the Hearthstone Lounge already – they also had an early flight back to the East Coast. Quinn was there as well – so we picked up some breakfast pastries & drinks and said our goodbyes, again with hugs & a few sniffles here and there. Both Diana and Quinn were outstanding guides with a great love of Disney – we couldn’t have asked for better. And I hope our group was memorable as well, since this was Quinn’s first tour as a guide.

The towncar arrived just about on time & whisked us away to the airport. Our driver wasn’t very talkative at all – not a bad thing, as we were busy eating (after making sure it was OK) and talking over our experiences. Traffic was fairly light and she made VERY good time (pushing 80 mph at times, Scott later told me), and we were at the airport about 7:30. We had no wait at the counter, and a fairly short wait thru security – and were at the gate about an hour and a half early. We found a spot near a power outlet and I started working on this trip report, continuing it on the flight until the battery died.

The flight was long and not terribly comfortable. Before we left, they told us they were having intermittent issues with the AC – not enough to ground the plane, but it did delay us about a half-hour. Apparently it went out again about halfway into the flight and left us all a bit hot & cranky by the time we were done. At least we didn’t run into very much turbulence – an occasional rough spot – about as bumpy as the Matterhorn (but thankfully, no Tower of Terror moments!).

We landed about 45 min behind schedule – but got our luggage fairly quickly. We must have just missed the hotel shuttle, as it took a good 25 minutes to make it back around to our stop. The weather was considerably cooler in Indianapolis – I was glad I had a sweatshirt handy! We got home about 6:30, grabbing some fast food for dinner on the way. We got most of our stuff unpacked and a load of laundry done before hitting the sack.
